This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. – Colossians 1:6

FREEEEEEEDOM!

Freedom in Christ: what does that truly mean?

You know we are really free right?
Like, F R E E.
Question (Do answer in the comments!):
What does this freedom through Christ, in Christ and with Christ, mean to you?
I would really love to start a discussion about this; so if I get responses, we’ll go from there.
But for now.. These are two super cool and relevant verses that i’ll leave you with:

You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ NLT)
For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ NLT)

“FREEEEEEEDOM!”
  • To me freedom in Christ means that sin has no hold over me. I am redeemed by his grace and sanctified through what he did for me on the cross. I am no longer bound by the shackles of sin and of this world but rather I am FREE to live my life according to what pleases my Father in Heaven and according to his purpose for me.
May we all live life according to this truth; that the devil has NO power over our lives except the ones we place in his hands.

    • Amen Amen! Thanks for sharing. I defintely agree with your point about being free to live ACCORDING TO WHAT THE FATHER PLEASES. That’s what we usually forget. Thank you and God bless!! Let’s see what others have to say

  • I agree with what Kelechi said and I just want to elaborate on that a little bit.
When I saw “Freedom in Christ”, the first thing that came to my mind and keeps coming is freedom from the burden of the world. Sometimes, we allow ourselves to become too earthly; we believe in what society says and we allow society dictate the way we should live our lives. That is, we allow negative stereotypes and words define us that we start living according to them. For example, when someone says “you’re not good enough”, “you’re not pretty enough”, “you’re not smart enough”..etc, we tend to believe them (sometimes). So, to me, freedom in Christ means that these words have no power over my life. He has taken all these negative thoughts and stereotypes away and renewed me. He has taken up my burden, I have been saved and now living life as the Father please, just as Kelechi said.

    • Mmmm, Amen Eniola! Wow, I knew God would speak through others that’s why this discussion weighed heavily on my heart. I definitely agree with your point about freedom from burdens. It immediately reminded me of Matthew 11:30, “For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.: That verse resonates SOOO much with me and means more than “weight light”, it also means bright light! We are the light of the world and the only burden we should have is to share His light and fully BE the light of the world. This allows us to act selflessly disregarding worldly negatively and doing what we have been called to do. I will definitely elaborate on this point in a post to come. Thanks so much for sharing my love!

  • I believe it’s freedom from the voice of the world just like Eniola said! I don’t need to please people because my ultimate goal should be to please God.

    • Wow, I am definitely loving your perspectives. Thanks for sharing!! Keep following the board, there’s more coming!

  • Well let’s see…we definitely have free will but knowing God you know that everything you do has an end to it, so if you know what you are doing isn’t God’s will for you then you expect what comes after it disorder chaos etc.
Knowing that he has given us freewill but still having the desire to follow God’s plan I believe makes Him extremely happy and makes Him boast in us.
Kinda like The story of Job…He could have done all manner of things and rebuked God coz that’s his freewill but he ddnt he still held on to God.
Even before God allowed the enemy to disrupt Jobs life God boasted in Job and said “have you considered Job there is none like him”….job still went through but in the end look at the blessings.
You can do what you want but know that you still have to answer to it…and also freedom according to the world is totally opposite from actual freedom in God.
I mean I don’t need to explain to you how you feel when you are filled with the spirit of God when you have no secrets no burdens and no sin keeping you bound…
Being connected to the vine is truly the only type of freedom you can experience

    • Yess Sissy, Yes!!! Thank you SO much for sharing. Your point about still having to answer to God is something I usually forget. Not that I forget, I almost purposely try to ignore it. That alone should tell me something, maybe what I want to do freely is wrong and I shouldn’t do it (Stubborn Sim). And mmm, being connected to the vine! Yet, sin disconnects us.. so therefore??? uh, duhhhh. I hope my point is clear. haha!
