Dear Young Lovers
Dear Young Lovers:
Marriage is a big deal!
As I read proverbs chapter 5 as a part of the Proverbs Challenge; these verses struck me.
Drink water from your own well— share your love only with your wife. Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone? You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers. Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth. She is a loving deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love. (Proverbs 5:15-19 NLT).
I love how real the Bible gets. Especially because we face real life problems. There’s definitely a lesson to be taught to our christian brothers and even sisters as well. Commitment is a big deal. Marriage is too. That’s why we have to pray tirelessly about it so that when the time comes, we can actually live by the Word of God. God’s word will then truly be a lamp to our feet. (Psalm 119:105)
It’s such a big deal that we can’t do it on our own. We can’t plan it on our own and if we even attempt to, we’re setting ourselves up for disaster.
The vows read: “I, ______, take thee, ______, to be my wedded wife/husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith [or] pledge myself to you [or] plight thee my troth.”
“Till death do us part” alone, gives me chills.
But when God is at the center of the relationship, it’ll be a lot easier. Hardship will come oo sickness will come oo but when the word of God is your foundation? And the love of God and God himself is everlasting?
Marriage is a God thing, not a Human thing, so let Him do it because He does it right.
My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life. I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. (Proverbs 4:10-11 NLT)
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT)
I’m really digging this proverbs challenge. It isn’t too late to start, join us and challenge yourself! (Read one chapter of proverbs a day for the month of July).
Have a blessed night <32
