This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. – Colossians 1:6

Use Your Gifts/Talents Wisely

Thank God for His Word and the life that it gives.
It literally gives me life!
The Parable of the Talents finally spoke to me. This parable has been preached in many churches all over the world but I finally got it, and I thank God for opening my eyes to the underlying message.

Anyway, it reads:

14 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone.

15 He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip.

16 “The servant who received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more.

17 The servant with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two more.

18 But the servant who received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the master’s money.

19 “After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money.

20 The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.’

21 “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together! ’

22 “The servant who had received the two bags of silver came forward and said, ‘Master, you gave me two bags of silver to invest, and I have earned two more.’

23 “The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’

24 “Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate.

25 I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’

26 “But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate,

27 why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’

28 “Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver.

29 To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.

30 Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:14-30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God wants us to use what He has given us wisely!

I find myself sitting, complaining and begging for more not realizing He wants to see what I can do with the “little” I have now.
Whatever your goal in life is, look around you and begin to practice it now.
You want to prophecy all over the world? Have you started preaching to your loved ones at home?
You want your future husband to love you? Do you show love to you siblings at home?
You want to become a millionaire? Have you practiced saving, tithing and giving?
My examples may be a bit shabby but I hope you get the point I’m driving home.

In my own life, I want a lot, but I need to use what I have now.
I pray that God remains merciful and gives us the wisdom we need to get through life. His love is enough and I pray that each one of you reading this will come to FULLY understand that.
Your life truly starts when you begin worshipping God in spirit and in truth. What does that mean? It means spending more time in your Bible App and maybe less scrolling down instagram (I’m guilty as charged lol). It means getting connected to a youth group (I’m in a virtual one, if you would like to join just let me know). It means prayer. God wants to elevate you and your talents. Will you let Him?  If yes, spend more time and get connected with Him.  Then, He will begin to reveal his marvelous plan to you.  He’s so amazing.

Have  a blessed week!! <3  Don’t forget to leave a question, comment, or prayer request <3

“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”

  • So I found myself on your blog today, and this was THE perfect article for me today! It really spoke to me. A big thing I’ve been trying to work through is figuring out what my talent(s) is/are. Are there any Bible verses I should read or prayers I should make that will help me out with this?

    • Hey Courtney!
Thank God that this spoke to you in the way that it did. I will keep you in my prayers boo, it’s definitely something we all struggle with. Trust that the Lord has a plan for you (a marvelous one/ Jeremiah 29:11). Something that has really been hitting home for me recently is the importance of good companionship. It’s your job to try as best as you can to surround yourself by positive people that will encourage you, point out your gifts and propel you into your destiny. Sometimes, we can’t see our own talents, so surrounding yourself by people that can act as reflectors is great. Don’t depend on them, but definitely pray to be surrounded by more people like that. Just one tip.

Also, a simple prayer: God please reveal to Courtney what you placed her on this earth to do. She has committed herself to you and is dedicated to hearing from you. She has posted this question/comment because she wants more. She wants to serve you. She wants more of you so please Lord reveal yourself to her. Shower her with your love, your blessings, your security, your comfort, your plans and your truth. Guide her and help her to be patient when listening to you. In Jesus Name!

These are some bible verses that can guide your prayers:

      Proverbs 13:20 (talks about friends)

      Matthew 6:31-34 (don’t worry)

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[e] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Romans 12:2 (How to go about hearing from God) – Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Proverbs 18:16 (your gift will take you very far) – A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.

As I said, I’ll be praying for you. When I find more verses, i’ll share them with you! <3
