“I Waited All Day For You”
I had a bad day.
Actually, for a few days, worry had been piling up on my shoulders.
It was more of anxiety.
I was anxious about tomorrow, next week and next month.
I was also sad because all my family members were leaving to go back to college. It just wasn’t good.
So guess what my human nature did?
I sat there groaning and worried.
I reached out to friends and told them how worried I was.
I sulked for a few hours.
Where did that get me, you ask? Absolutely nowhere.
I finally decided to go into a quiet place and cry to God. I finally spoke to Him, and while comforting me with His promises, you know what He told me?
“I waited all day for you.”
Through my struggle, He was patiently waiting for me to come to Him and depend on His strength (Proverbs 3:5-6).
I knew I couldn’t get through the anxiety alone, I don’t know what I was waiting for.
No matter what I tried, the feelings of intense worry were still there,
until I prayed.
Prayer is THAT easy and accessible, I don’t know why we don’t do it. We run round and round and get nowhere.
God is your refuge.
Not the alcohol.
Not your bae.
Not your next bae.
Not the drugs.
Not the new jordans.
They’ll only get you so far, for you to realize, you’re still hurting and you just need God.
My pastor said, “If you need to vent, vent to God and not on Facebook”, and this is factssss lol
Because I prayed and let it all out to God, my soul is at peace and I feel like I’m ready to take on the world. I mean He says in His word, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
What would you do?
Continue to sulk on the roller coaster that never ends
Turn to God, our awesome and ageless refuge.
The choice is yours. He’s waiting. He’s waiting for you boo. Go ahead. Pray.
“Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (Matthew 6:27)
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” (Matthew 6:34)
“For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matthew 7:8)
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
The eternal God is your refuge,
and his everlasting arms are under you.
He drives out the enemy before you;
he cries out, ‘Destroy them!’ (Deuteronomy 33:27)
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him. (Psalm 91:2)
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety. (Psalm 18:2)
The Lord replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.” (Exodus 33:14)
