Discussion: “What Has God Been Doing In Your Life?”
What Has God Been Doing In Your Life?
My brother Sheriff, constantly asks me, “What are you learning? What is God doing in your life? What have you learned this past week?”
And me being me.. I would typically brush him off with a shallow answer like “a lot.”
.. I know.. Awful. (Sorry Sheriff!)
However, the question came up this week in a youth fellowship/virtual bible study I’m in and one of my soul sista’s (Doyin- thanks for the inspiration) asked the same question. Fortunately, I didn’t give her a shallow answer.
Glory be to God, I’ve been learning a lot about God’s goodness and mercy, including the importance of sharing what I’ve learnt, with others.
So immediately, I said “I’ll go! I’ll go!”
Here’s the longer version of what I shared in the fellowship:
The first few weeks of September were awful. I lead multiple clubs on campus, I’m taking harder classes, I’m in a number of programs that are time consuming.. And the list goes on. All Glory to God for the roles that He has assigned me to..
I started off the semester stressed beyond belief and obviously I didn’t tell anyone. I kept it all to myself (bad idea), and cried because of everything.
Anyhow, you get my point, bad couple of weeks.
I finally decided to pray about all that I was doing. I cried out to God and began to feel PEACE. That peace that surpasses human understanding. Y’all know anything about that? Leave a comment below if you feel me.
As soon as I got a bit more organized and all prayed up, I started seeing my blessings. They had always been there, I just didn’t see them because my mind was so clouded.
Let me briefly share a few recent testimonies with you:
1) I got free breakfast one morning after having spent money all week on breakfast, lunch and dinner (team no meal plan). God was like.. Don’t worry hunny, I got you and I will provide for you. (Philippians 4:19)
2) I’ve been acing my micro-economics class: People typically share horror stories about micro and how much they hate it.. I love it guys. 100s on 100s, day after day. Again, God’s way of saying, He’s bigger and better than human wisdom. (1 Corinthians 1:25)
3) My mentees have been doing big things! I find so much joy in sharing my experiences and mentoring people, this year I have the opportunity to officially mentor about 20 freshmen in total. 3 of my mentees have gotten interviews with the Big 4 accounting firms, 2 were sponsored to go for a conference, 2 others have gotten very involved in ASA and the list goes on and on. Thank God for their lives. (Proverbs 27:17)
4) God has just been really good. My mind and soul are in a very good place. My heart is filled with the love of God. God is showing up and showing out right now. Even on the days where I begin to complain about small things, I quickly snap out of it and thank God for who He is. (Isaiah 40:28)
So what have I been learning, you ask?
I’ve been learning that nothing else in this life matters other the fact that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. (Ecclesiastes 12:8)
No one else can fill this God-shaped hole in my heart, but God himself. (LADIES, Bae isn’t enough!!)
God has my back and will be there through it all.
God is waiting to elevate us, we’ve just got to run to him.
So thank God. Put on your favorite praise song right now and give it up for Jesus!
Share below what you’ve been learning and what God has been doing in your life.. Let’s create a safe and positive space in the comments. Will you be the first to comment?
Have a blessed week y’all, see you soon <3
