This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. – Colossians 1:6

Don’t. Give. Up.

“God has placed something in your heart, but you’ll never get there unless you’re disciplined.”

Hey favorite people in the world! I’m back, woohoo, but that’s besides the point. We’ll talk more about my time off later.

Today’s message in church though…

This message had me like (insert meme here). #WOY #YESLord #HurdYouLord #Copy

God basically spoke to me through Pastor Richie and I was holding on to my seat because it was toooo much.  Be blessed as I share:

How will you get to your Promised Land? “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8). The route we think we should take most likely isn’t the route God wants us to take. What

The Long way enforces discipline and stimulates character development.

This message REALLY hit home because I was reminded that God disciplines and breaks us to remold our character. #YesLord

What does it take to get to your Promised Land? Lessons learned on the Long Road:

Discipline * Dependency (on God) *  Determination

1) Discipline: “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.”

“Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

Stillness requires discipline.

On the real, I’ve struggled so much with self-disciple/self-control. Simply because it’s so easy not to be disciplined. Scarily easy. Too easy that I don’t even like it. However, the truth of the matter is, discipline will bridge my goals to my accomplishments, so I just have to do it. Lord, help us. We must do what we can, and God will do what we cant.

2) Dependency

“Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭8:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The idea here is fairly simple, yet challenging. More simple than challenging though. Depend on God. Turn to Him in every single situation. From the start of your day till the end, while you sleep, then repeat.

3) Determination/A Resolve Within Us

“I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[a] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,” – Philippians 3:12-13

In short, the sermon served as a necessary reminder to me. Like, girl, wake up, stop playing and allow God to mold you in the way that he wants because you knowwww you don’t want to go through this season all over again.

Patience, discipline, determination, dependency, get yo life – All in an hour-long sermon. Won’t you look at God?

So, think about this,

“How and where is your character being built in this very season?”

Lord, prepare us for the promised land.

God wants to take you from glory to glory but he needs to strengthen your character.

Wow, that was a lot to let out. Thank you Jesus.

“Then the people of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea[a] to go around the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey,” – Numbers 21:4

“When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea.[a] Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle.” – Exodus 13:17-18
