Let’s Talk About Your Work Ethic
I thank God for friends that inspire me! I know a number of phenomenal young people who are doing unimaginable things and serving God while they’re at it. #GOALS????
Today’s post is inspired by a friend that inspires me.
Let’s talk about your work ethic.
God has placed an amazing idea/seed in your heart that’s eager to germinate. Don’t let your character flaws get in the way of your success. In short, don’t be lazy.
You see, there are so many young people out here making major moves! That means, you can too. The only differentiator between you and the people to your left or right is, your work ethic (or a lack thereof – shadeee to self!!)
I’ll be honest, I struggle with putting my phone down and focusing! “Be still.” In that stillness, there’s room to thrive. I believe it because whenever I make room for stillness, I begin to create and events like the Chosen Generation Festival 2016 are born.
You can too.
The worst thing one can do is wait mindlessly then play victim. “The system is set up against me” (debatable lol). “I don’t have time to..” – now that’s a lie, stop righhh dereee.
How badly do you want to succeed?
How much closer do you want to draw to God?
What steps do you want to take?
How many of those steps have you taken or will you take within the next week?
What are you doing with your time? In case you forgot, no one is waiting for your seed to germinate and bear fruit. “OYO lo wa!” (You are on your own!)
College students, we’re on break now.
The question is; what will you do with your time? Live in the past via your Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter feeds or put the phone down, practice self-control and get to the next level/next chapter of your life?
The choice is yours. Don’t take your gifts to the grave.
OYO LO WA!
“I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.” – Proverbs 24:30-34
“In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.” – Proverbs 14:23
“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” – James 4:17
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
