Be the friend you’re looking for.
Be the boyfriend you’re looking for.
Be the girlfriend you’re looking for.
It really starts with you!
I want to be that friend that’ll hold you down. Why? Well, I appreciate friends that HOLD ME DOWN.
“Holding Down” involves being;
- Honest – with love
- Generous with constructive criticism
- Loving (that 1 Corinthians 13 kinda love)
to name a few..
You’re in the danger zone if you don’t have spirit-filled Christian brothers and sisters to call friends.
I’m not talking about your 2000+ Facebook friends, Instagram followers or Snapchat viewers. I’m referring to friends that’ll stick closer to you than a brother sometimes. There will be rough day when you’ve prayed and all but you need 2 or 3 gathered together, agreeing and interceding on your behalf;
Sometimes, you may even feel like you can’t pray – but they’re there with you pointing you right back to the Jesus!
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” – Matthew 18:20
What we don’t need are “yes men” (and women 😉 ).
No no no. Miss me with that.
If you’re that type of person, please change your ways lol.
Don’t go around lying to people saying that they’re perfect.
At the same time, it’s no ones place to go around correcting everyone (unless you’ve reached that level in your friendship). T
here’s a balance & I hope you get my drift lol.
There will be days when you’re doing THE MOST and taking wrong turns; you’ll need that friend to keep it real with you!
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16
Godly relationships are instrumental on this journey!
Do not be fooled that you can do it all on your own or by your self #SheGotHerOwn.
In your weakness, God makes you strong.
There’s beauty in vulnerability.
A healthy support system is a breath of fresh air.
Now, don’t go around trying to give your baggage to anyone other than God.
The Lord is our rock;
Your friends can support.
I have a variety of friendships;
Some people I’ve known for less than 6 months, some for 3 years, others I’m just getting to know, however, they’ve all been a blessing to me. #DestinyHelpers
I know who to go to in different situations. I’m working on defining all of my relationships. You know that friend that’s great with educational advice, the other that will listen to you ranting about your new booo.. all of them!
I’m also learning how to be a better friend.
I’m super spontaneous with my communication & I tend to reach out to people at random times. Sometimes I’m not completely present when they need me, but I’m working on it!
Thankfully my friends bear with me
for now lol!
I pray that you’d become connected to a Christian community.
If you’re looking for one, reach out to me! You could join our Chosen Generation Fellowship/Prayer line (Every Monday @ 9:30pm EST) or I’ll refer you to another small group based on your interests.
When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him. – Job 2:11
24 Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered,
25 or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared. – Proverbs 22:24-25
