I lost really amazing video footage on Friday at about 4am.
I know, I probably shouldn’t have been up editing until 4am. That was probably half of the problem.
For me, losing video footage is like losing my 1600+ iPhone notes (God forbid!) It’s painful. Extremely painful.
I’m far from materialistic, but this hurt.
Have you ever lost something extremely valuable?
After losing this footage, I stayed in bed for the next 24 hours and only got up if it was extremely necessary.
Dramatic, I know.
Obsessive – to say the least.
Who would have thought that my attachment to some video footage could ruin my whole day.
It shouldn’t have though.. it shouldn’t have.
I heard (or read) somewhere that if you’re going to fail, fail quickly. Don’t fail and sulk for too long – it’s a waste of time.
I impulsively paid over $100 for data recovery software that still hasn’t worked when I could have simply re-recorded/re-edited the video.
The project I had created was so perfect… I fell in love with it and couldn’t stand the thought of having do it all over. I stayed up till 4am – I shouldn’t have.
Balance is extremely important as we walk in faith.
Working hard isn’t sinful – we should work hard. Work hard as though you’re working for the Lord.
It becomes a problem when you deny yourself of God-given rest because you’ve allowed work to become an idol.
I woke up with a headache, stressing over how I’d recover my emptied trash and get my footage back.
Give yourself a break.
Why can’t you put that task down for the night and pick it back up tomorrow?
You are not superwoman/superman. Put it down! Take a break! RETREAT.
An idol will set up its throne without your permission – you must remain alert.
Lost video footage shouldn’t break my heart.
I have every right to be sad about it – but not for too long & not to the point of misery or a depressive state for over 24 hours.
Check yourself. Check your idols. What controls your feelings, emotions, actions and reactions?
Nothing should shake your world – your hope is found in Christ alone.
Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. – Mark 1:35
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. – Colossians 3:23
42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:40-42
