Merry Christmas!!!

Oh sweet Baby Jesus. Born in a manger and all the other exciting stuff.Merry-Christmas-Jesus-Banner-2

The most exciting part about today, Christmas, the celebration of His birth, is that God sent Him for US?!

Like really? US!!!

His chosen people.

Let us celebrate and give thanks!!

Put aside all the “extraness”. The expensive presents, the hype, all of that. And focus in on what’s really going on. We are celebrating the King of Kings. The PRINCE OF PEACE. The merciful and eternal God.

Imagine we lived in the days of the Old Testament?

Thank you Lord.

I never really valued Christmas as much as I do today solely because I didn’t fully understand what/who was being celebrated. And I believe that’s comprehensible.

This time last year was totally different for me but that’s why I am so thankful. It’s all making sense and I thank God for all His revelations, His INFINITE MERCY!!!!

You guys know I could go on and on.

Have a really blessed day. Give thanks!! Reflect. The year is coming to an end.  I pray God continues to reveal himself to you.

Lastly, remember, He came for US. Enough was ENOUGH. The battle has been WON. Victory is ours FOREVER. Nothing can separate us from a love so DEEP.

I hope you are blessed by the passages and song. See you later loves!

Comment below why you’re excited about Christmas and maybe share what God has done for you this past year.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬ NLT)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16-17‬ NKJV)

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬ NLT)

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57 NLT)

Self Control- Josh McDowell

This was taken from Josh McDowell’s Daily Reading Plan

You may really, really want to be more self-controlled. You may want to control your anger, your appetite, your desires, or your fears. But no matter how badly you want self-control, you can’t make it happen. Oh, you may improve a little bit, for a while. But no matter how hard you try, you won’t develop true self-control by yourself. Because self-control, like all virtues, comes from God.

In other words, your ability to exercise self-control depends on whatever or whoever-fills you. “That’s why,” the Bible says, “those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you” (Romans 8:8-9).

So if you are a Christian, the power to be self-controlled is already living in you-the Holy Spirit. The key, then, is not to grunt and groan and grit your teeth but to surrender to the Spirit’s control day by day and moment by moment-just like a glove “surrenders” to the hand that wears it and controls it.

REFLECT: You already have God’s Spirit living in you if you’ve received forgiveness of your sins and trusted Jesus for salvation. Have you done that? If not, you can do it now by praying this simple prayer: “Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life and make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen.”

PRAY: One way to surrender to the Spirit’s control is to sincerely pray a simple prayer every morning, like the following: “God, I want to do right today, but I know I’ll need your help. I give up control of the things I do to your Holy Spirit right now, and I ask him to control me all day long. Please help me not to forget or to ‘take back’ control.”

Shine Like Stars- VOTD!

Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. (‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭12-15‬ NLT)

Following Prophets – VOTD!!

When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world? After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? God will destroy banyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”

So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you— whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭4-9, 16-19, 21-23‬ NLT)

VOTD

“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and self-indulgence! You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too. “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity. Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness. (‭Matthew‬ ‭23‬:‭23, 25-28‬ NLT)

Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! (‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭14-16‬ NLT)

God Doesn’t Recognize Sinners!!

This post is inspired by a small group discussion at my school’s IVC.

So our group was talking about the image of God in relation to us as human beings and it totally blew my mind so I thought i’d share.

Basically,

God created us in His image, and His plan was for us to live in and like His image, right?

So now if we look at Genesis where God calls out for Adam saying “Adam where are you?”

Why do you think He asked Adam that? Don’t you think God should have already known where Adam was? I mean He is GOD.

Well no, what we realized is that God asked “Adam, where are you?” because he could no longer recognize Adam because of Adams sin! Moreover, the image of God-which Adam was meant to be reflecting– became distorted!!

Now if you look at modern day society, we are so far in the game of sin and that passage shows us that what we need to do is clean up our image and try to be more like God and reflect a clearer picture of His image.

How do we do this? We do this by living like Christ: the Son of God. That is the only way God can recognize us, we need to be a better reflection of God, that’s the only way He can recognize us as His children…

Then the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” (‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ NLT)

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ NLT)

It’s like OOTD (outfit of the day) but instead it’s Verse(s) of the Day! Let’s get this started, here you go..

Praise the LORD, for he has shown me the wonders of his unfailing love. He kept me safe when my city was under attack.

Love the LORD, all you godly ones! For the LORD protects those who are loyal to him, but he harshly punishes the arrogant. So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD! (‭Psalms‬ ‭31‬:‭21, 23-24‬ NLT)

Be blessed with these verses!

“Is there truth in the Bible?”

Bible-4In our society today, people hear so much about christianity and begin to wonder.

They hear different views and begin to contemplate.

They see so many denominations of the church and wonder, where is the unity?

They have a hard time believing, because they want “facts”.

They want physical truth.

I used to wonder too!

Well, I don’t have the answers but I do have faith.

I have faith now but I didn’t not too long ago and can definitely relate.

However, I now know that there is truth in God’s word.

If you’re really looking for truth and facts, please please please, read the word for yourself!

I can not stress it enough, Read the bible for yourself!

By yourself!

In its totality.

It will never be clear if you don’t.

It is there for you.

All your questions will be answered, just try.

Don’t seek approval from other christians, we are all sinners and make mistakes.

We are all mere human beings.

So go ahead and read it for yourself!

Draw closer to Him and He will draw closer to you.

Knock and He will answer, He will reveal himself to you.

I promise.

“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. (‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭15‬ NLT)”

A lesson learned – Memorization

So a few days ago my brother and I found ourselves trying to memorize a bible verse:

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ NLT)”

Now in our effort, we learned a lot.

First lesson:

Education is important. “Mere” reading and writing skills apply to bible reading and understanding scriptures.
We tried to memorize it word for word, but came to realize, if we can’t read it and understand it well, we wouldn’t be able to memorize it!

Second lesson:

Your goal should be UNDERSTANDING and not forceful memorization (or cramming). As I said, when we understood what was written, it was sooo much easier to memorize because the bible makes sense and it flows as it should!

Third lesson:

Keep trying, don’t give up on your memorization. God wants us to have the word at the tip of your tongue at all times!!

And final lesson:

Get a memorization buddy (if you can). It was so much easier to memorize with my brother because whatever I missed, he had it and whatever he missed, I had it.

So don’t lose faith and keep reading the word because it matters.
